Freddy Branson
Award-winning Australian-born flautist Freddy Branson is an emerging artist set to make his European debut this November with the Farnborough Symphony Orchestra.
A recent prizewinner at the MPIMC International Concerto Competition, the New York Flute Competition, and the Mid-Atlantic Flute Competition, Freddy has quickly established himself on the international stage since relocating to the United States. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in venues of international prestige, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, and the Melbourne Recital Centre, where he was a finalist in the Australian Strike A Chord Chamber Music Competition.
Freddy has also given solo recitals across Australia and performed with ensembles such as the Australian Flute Ensemble and a wide range of chamber groups.
Equally at home in the orchestral setting, Freddy has served as principal flute with ensembles including the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Youth Orchestra.
Currently, Freddy is pursuing his Bachelor of Music in Classical Flute Performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of Marina Piccinini. He is the recipient of both a Peabody Scholarship and the Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Orchestral Scholarship, and was recently awarded the 2025 Britton Johnson Award.
